Locations: Our private hunting
lodge is located on the Northern
end of the Flat Tops in the Rocky Mountains of Northwest
Colorado in Game Management Unit 12. Our private cabin consists of
over 70 acres surrounded on three sides by the Routt National
Forest on prime National Forest Land. It contains some of the
Rocky Mountains’ most spectacular scenery and wildlife.
Offering: Self-guided hunting -
Wildlife in the area include elk, mule deer, black bear, big
horn sheep, mountain lion, antelope, and an occasional moose.
Colorado has more elk than any other U.S. state or Canadian
province. The elk herd in our GMU is estimated at 45,000
animals. And while its best known for elk, it produces quality
mule deer bucks as well. In fact Garth Carter in Hunting Fool
recommended GMU 12 as a good second choice for big mule deer
bucks since it is easy to get as a second choice and doesn't use
any of your preference points.
Wild Skies Hunting Lodge is perfect for the
hunter that wants a comfortable retreat suitable for
entertaining guests or non-hunting family members. Hiking,
Snowmobiling, Glenwood Springs Pool and much more are readily
available to our guests.
Accommodations: Our beautiful
cabin is 2000 sf and can comfortable sleep 12 guests. The cabin has a
full kitchen with a breakfast bar, two living room or sitting
room areas, a large dining room area, two bedrooms on the first
floor (one has a queen bed and the other has 2 sets of twin
bunkbeds), a dormitory with 6-8 double beds on the second floor
and one full bath and an outhouse. Choose to have
your meals included, or cook for yourself.

Deer, Elk, Duck,
Pheasant, Hog Hunting and much more from Alaska, Canada
and Nebraska to Texas,
Alabama and Georgia!
If you have been
dreaming about going on a special hunting trip, consider using the
services of a professional hunting lodge. Hunting lodges, like
hotels, have various levels of service and accommodations. All
kinds of hunts are conduced from hunting lodges, including duck,
deer, elk, turkey, hog, antelope, bear, lion, caribou, pheasant and
much more.
-
Premier Hunting
Lodge: The premier hunting lodge offers the finest in
accommodations, delicious meals, staff services and of course, hunting.
The premier lodge might have a choice of both high fence and free range
hunting. They would be glad to customize a hunting package for you
or your group, depending on the type of services required. The
premier hunting lodge is used quite often by corporations and sales
companies as a reward for a job well done. Guests at a Premier
Hunting Lodge would have a choice of fully guided or self guided
hunting. Many of our Premier Hunting Lodges also offer fishing
services. You can expect high speed internet, cell phone service
(or at least phone service), Cable or Satellite TV and other creature
comforts. Prices vary widely from one lodge to the next, but
generally, you get what you pay for.
-
Remote Hunting
Lodge: Often times, the remote hunting lodges, such as those
found in Canada and Alaska or Wyoming, are accessible only by plane.
They may have a large hunting lodge that accommodates all the guests, or
perhaps small private cabins. The Remote Hunting Lodge may not
have cell service, internet service or cable TV, but you will probably
not miss these things while you are enjoying the breathtaking beauty of
the surroundings. In the Remote Hunting Lodge areas, wildlife
abounds and there are usually other things to do while not hunting.
Fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, boating are other activities you
will likely be able to enjoy.
-
Bunk-House Hunting
Lodge: Many hunting lodges fall into this category, some are
better, some far worse. The accommodations are usually
comfortable, but no-frills. Bedrooms may sleep 2-4 hunters each
and you may be sharing a bathroom, too. Usually they have a large
entertainment room with TV, Game Tables, Dining Hall, and almost always,
a very comfortable front porch with a great view of the country.
Fishing may be available. Hunting may be semi-guided or
self-guided. Prices, again, may vary significantly from one lodge
to the next, but the bunk-house hunting lodge may be exactly what you
are looking for if you are on a strict budget.
To insure you have a
wonderful stay at your chosen hunting lodge, be sure to get all your
questions answered as to what kind of accommodations, meals, hunting
services, and transportation you will be provided. If you know
exactly what to expect, you will be able to relax and enjoy your hunt once
you arrive.
As to what kind of
accommodations you should expect from your hunting lodge, that is something
you must work out BEFORE the hunt is scheduled. See our
